Must do’s for NDIS reviews?
About 4 to 6 months before your plan ends
- Review Your Information: Make a note of any changes you’d like to make.
- Check Your Goals: Have you reached them? Do they need an update?
- Review Your Budget and Expenses: Are you on track, over or underspent?
- Consider Other Supports: Do you need any other help do to changes in your situation or health. Document your daily life and record your daily support needs. Share this with your support coordinator and your medical and allied health practitioners.
- Request a Plan Review: Ask all your service providers for an end-of-plan progress report, which should be ready two months before your plan ends. Highlight any gaps in the services you need to request in the Plan Review.

- Plan Rollover: Many plans are being rolled over. If you received a letter about this two-to-three months before your plan ends, please contact your Support Coordinator, LAC or NDIS enquiries to request a Plan Review.
- NDIS Local Area Coordinator (LAC): If you have a NDIS LAC, please reach out to them six to eight weeks before your plan ends to request a Plan Review.
- Submit Reports: Aim to submit your medical reports, allied health reports and progress reports, along with quotes, six to eight weeks before your plan ends.
About 1 month before your plan ends
- Plan Review: Make sure you have a plan review scheduled.
- Take a look at your current plan: jot down what has been helpful, what hasn’t and any areas where you might need more funding.
- Think about your goals: what do you hope to accomplish in the next year?
- Double-check your quotes: make sure you have quotes for all the services you need, plus any new equipment, services or therapies you’ve asked for.
- Have a good look at how you’ve spent your budget to see what was really important.
At the Review Meeting
- Keep it focused on ‘Reasonable and Necessary’: explain how your requests will help you reach your goals and cut down on the need for future help.
- Be clear and specific: instead of just saying ‘I want to do more’, give examples like ‘I want to take a cooking class so I can learn to live on my own’.
- Bring your notes, reports and quotes: have them ready in a clear and organised way (either as a hard copy or on the portal).
- Bring someone to support you: it might be helpful to have a family member, friend or advocate there to help you.
